About Polo
Whilst the sport of polo tends to be associated with the traditional exclusivity of the game that is inevitably expensive when played at a serious or professional level. Many polo athletes, and the polo industry as a whole genuinely desire to broaden participation in the sport and to break down the misconceptions associated with polo.
Many people today still do not realise that if they wish to watch a polo match they do not require a personal invitation to do so. In addition to this, those that wish to start the sport continue to believe that they must at first know how to ride or own their own horse.
It often comes as a surprise to learn that polo is now played in over 80 countries and in the UK alone more than 80% of those just starting out have never sat on a horse before.
The perception that you cannot enjoy polo or participate in the sport hinders many from joining in and enjoying this unique game - and many don't realise that you don't even need to be a member of a polo club to start learning or getting more involved.
